The New Review - The Independent on Sunday
It is always nice to pick up a new client, especially one as prestigious as The Independent. At the start of Feb I was asked to produce 5 small portraits for their ’New Review’ magazine for an article about ‘Ladies in Film’. It’s fairly uncommon to get a commission for portraits and have them printed so small, normally clients want to show the detail that builds up the faces. This time however I think it has worked really well, the blocks of shading have softened and given it delicate look.
For about a year now I have been working hard on perfecting how I draw women’s faces as they do require a slightly different approach. Since then I have been asked to do more and more, it might be a coincidence but I like to think people have seen the improvements.
